I wonder if anyone can help with the origin of the expresssion 'Dip For Gold and Dip For Silver' as used in the Oldham Tinkers' 'Barefoot Days Medley' (on the CD 'A Fine Old English Gentleman')? I gather it's something to do with picking up pins, but does anyone have a full explanation?
