leeneia, I'm with you on that. I tape certain specials that I want to watch, then see them at my own convenience, fast-forwarding through commercials, which is a bonus. Otherwise the TV is off. And I peruse all the wonderful "good book" threads that show up on Mudcat. Given the choice of a book or a TV programme, it's no contest. Funny, I've heard more and more people state that they have stopped watching the news on TV -- they find it just too grim. Anyone else in that mode?
