I heard today that GWBush has called for a constitutional amendment to prohibit same-sex marriage. It seems he wants to turn this into a campaign issue. Specifically, he wants to force the Democratic candidates to take a position, knowing that whichever way they go, they will lose some support. I find it paradoxical that, as justification for his proposed amendment, he says he considers marriage to be "sacred." Fine, but that seems like an argument for making the government STAY THE HELL OUT. Christians consider baptism sacred, too, but we don't allow the government to tell us who can be baptized. Discuss.
