Wow, what a wealth of knowledge. Thanks so much, Dale. The Bucks County Folk Song Society (my favorite group of folks) is doing the songs of the century next month, and I've been assigned to come up with a number from the forties. This struck me as a real promising candidate. It always enhances a song if you can present the story behind it, and this is a fine story if ever I heard one. However, if anyone else has some additional info, I'd love to hear it. Bert C.
