Hi,
Everybody knows this tune and I'm also fully aware this is NOT a folk or blues-song, but still... This song is already copyrighted in 1915 (!) by its writer, vaudevillian Johnny S Black, but an earlier recorded version than the Mills Brothers' big hit in 1942 (!) seems to be non-existing. This really puzzles me for months now, can anyone help or guide me to another forum where I can launch this request?
PS: Tried Fortune City, but they provide only lyrics.
