John and I had been pals for more than thirty years since he first welcomed me into Sevenoks Folk Club all those years ago. He was with us from the first days of The Pugwash Band in 1983 and he was still the foundation stone of the band even after I escaped to Cornwall. He even talkied me into playing rugby with him when we were both still able to run! I owe him so much. A friend and fellow folkie. Very sadly missed but fondly remembered by all who met him.
