With regard to TIAs being I residual of drug and alcohol abuse, I could not disagree more. Most TIAs result from hypertension, atherosclerosis,heart disease or diabetes. My mother-in-law has had them for years and in the 45 years I've known her she has had an alcohol consumption rate of oh,about 1 drink per year(tho I may have driven her to drugs).It is an all too common problem among people 55 or older, and the usual (secret?) twice a day medication prescribed is...aspirin 650-1300 mg.
Now don't get me wrong. I think my motherinlaw could probably run the country better than George, but for most people TIAs don't interfere with long term cognitive ability.But,cheer up those of you who hate George to the extreme. Tias often presage strokes.
