You are an hour from the center of Folk music in North Carolina. St. Andrews College in Laurinburg, NC has the head quarters and library for "Thistle and Shamrock" the PBS program on Scottish and Irish music. The St. Andrews Pipe Band has been a major recruitment band for the Grade I- City of Washington Pipe Band -on the East Coast US in recent years. A Celtic Heritage weekend is held every spring?I believe. The museum there in the school Library addition is quite extensive in North Carolina Celtic music. The Flora Macdonald Celtic Games are held in Red Springs NC about 20 minutes from you. but I believe that they were two weeks ago.
