I suspect people who think it's odd to wear suspenders with a belt don't really need either of them. I wear suspenders because I need them. My pants would fall down without them. Sometimes the belt is just for appearance, because empty belt loops look silly. But my favorite brand of suspenders, made by Perry Products, Inc., can't work without a belt.
