If I could, I would encourage free enterprise everywhere but not free trade. Opening up your borders to foreign imports will destroy any fledgling enterprise. Adam Smith certainly thought so. Every country that has become rich has done so through protectionism:America, Britain, Japan, USA, Taiwan, etc. Free Trade is a con by rich countries on poor countries. It enriches the rich and impoverishes the poor. Free Enterprise and protectionism are the key to national wealth. |
