I too was disheartened when I discovered one day, a long time ago now, that National thumb picks, my long time favorites, had been forever altered in design so as to make them entirely useless to me. The shape used to be more like what Golden Gate thumb picks are now. I freaked because I had always used them and had merely assumed that this one good thing would not be altered with the passing of time. Why would anyone want to fix what wasn't broken. Fortunately, I managed to sustain my supply until the discovery of the Golden Gate brand by several means. Via my vast powers of resoucefulness, I sought out and found old caches in pawn shops and old stock in odd little music stores. I also have friends who have collected old supplies that were willing to offer extras to keep me going. When one friend offered his used Golden Gates to me and I discovered how well they fit I was sold on them. Re clueless don's comment about Dobro picks, I have one of those old clear Dobro brand picks. I've never used it. It doesn't fit. I don't know if they're still made but they wouldn't do for me.
