YES the lyric is "cold in hand". It's an old superstition, that, if you "wake up cold in hand, that's a sure sign, baby, your woman's got another man". It's not an idea DVR invented. It's part of the tradition the Blues comes from. If you wake up cold in hand, you must have had a bad dream!
