Rod Hagerman Help: War between the States Songs (7) War between the States Songs 10 Oct 99

I am looking for some history on some song characters and wonder if this is the time to create a new threat as named above. My search concerns the Johnson Boys, as the song tells, ... "scouts in the rebels' army..." I have a version of the song as done by the Nashville Bluegrass Band, and would like to see if anyone has any historical info on the "Boys" themselves. Many thanks.
