Randy Sparks of the New Christy Minstrels also needs to be credited on this song. He reworked this song in 1960, removing the offensive racial references and adding the third verse and final chorus. Baptizin' that bear was his invention. He recorded the song with the New Christy Minstrels in 1962 on the album "The New Christy Minstrels, In Person at The Troubadour".
