I love his sixties/early seventies recordings, but I saw him play live with Dave Swarbrick about eighteen months ago, and I have to say I was really disappointed. Fact is, he simply can't sing any more; can't hold a note for any length of time without descending into a strangulated croak. He really was a great folksinger in his day- also a formative influence on my own singing style- but should either bow out gracefully and let some younger talent through (not just his own close relations!), or at least stick to playing guitar instrumentals.
