My father used to sing a song to us back in the thirties that had this refrain in it;"I'm tieing the leaves so they wont fall down so Nellie wont go away". It had to do with a girl who was dieing and the doctor had said that she would be gone when the last leaf of autumn fell. I would like to know the rest of the words too.
