I think he was confused, numb, and waiting for instructions. What I also see as extremely significant, and which I haven't seen discussed much, is that this was naked, honest Bush: without a script, without his handlers, without his cronies around him 3-deep, protecting and advising and instructing him. I think that the Bush we saw for that 7 minutes is the only glimpse of the real Bush that we've had -- all else is posturing.

I cannot come to terms with a president who is told that his country is under attack and cannot even manage "keep me posted," or "what else do I need to know," or "who else has been told," or SOMETHING, some sort of response that indicates he is at least capable of thought.
