I have watched a fair bit of European TV (purely for the benefit of my foreign language skills) and I reckon it makes British TV seem high quality by comparison. The good thing about Belgian cable TV (I lived there for a few months) is that even if there's nothing worth watching, there's 40-odd channels so you can fill up half an hour just flicking through them all before you decide there's nothing on. I don't have a TV myself, there was one in the house when I moved in but it was broken and the landlady said we could either get it fixed or get rid of it - so we got rid of it and bought a mandolin with the money we would have spent on a TV licence. Much more entertaining. Charley
