Hi John,

Kissimmee is the city that fronts the Walt Disney World area. There's a lot of touristy things but also a lot of wonderful nature to see. It's also 50 miles from the Space Coast and Kennedy Space Center, and it's 25 miles south of Orlando - where I live - which has a lot of non-touristy things to see. Of course if you want some touristy things - Disney has 4 main theme parks (Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, Disney MGM Studios & Animal Kingdom), there are 5 major water sports parks, a Sea World and Universal Studios 2 parks.

If you decide to come, PM me and give me an idea of some stuff you might like to see. Also - I always have an open invitation to buy any visiting Mudcatter a pint of the quality if they wish. I'd be happy to talk you on a walking tour of Downtown to show you the sights and tell you a bit about the history of Orland and Central Florida.

Music-wise, the area is kind of hit-or-miss when it comes to folk, etc., but being a major city (1.7 million in the metro area) we do get some interesting acts. Some good local stuff too. If you decide to come, let me know when and I'll get a list together live music happening then.
