To open this post I will state the following: I do not particularly consider Richie kavanagh a serious singer/writer, but he has a few catchy numbers one of wich is below, possibly unknown in UK and states, but is along Seamus Moore (JCB man) lines for anyone who may know him. Richie hails from Co. Carlow in Ireland, and made his name with a song playing on the gaelic langauge (aon Focal eile) wich was an instant hit with kids and hit the charts, Something to do with shouting Focal no doubt!! He then degraded into cheap play on words such as the chicken said buck aw, (sounds like F**k off) and my girlfriend has a pussy. I'll say no more This here is an earlyish number of his, wich is along the lines of what i was originally looking for wich i might add is written in carlow dialect, explaining the few odd words THE TRAVELIN' MAN (Richie Kavanagh) Chourus Oh I am a little travelin' man Some people calls me tinker Dan I have a great big HiAce van And I buy and sell all that i can *Would you buy a bit o carpet if i gave to ya cheap Would ya buy a radio, Do you want an ol tape Sure I never codded no one no time in my life* (repeat * to * again) I was reared in a horse drawn Van Me Father was a cute little man We used to travel near and far With a pie bald ass and our little car CHOURUS The places we used to camp and stay Are all filled in with stones and clay We're told stay, go, no, keep away Sure we cant keep going till our dyin' day CHOURUS Me Brother Mickey he's the one If you want a bit of tarmacadam done Not coddin ya now he'll do a good job And He'll only charge ya a couple of bob CHOURUS Me father taught me how to buy and sell (pause) Not coddin' ya now I'm doin quare well (pause) I've paid for me home and me HiAce van (pause) AND I'M PROUD TO BE CALLED A TRAVELIN MAN CHOURUS
