If you get a mortgage for a house it will probably go up in value during the time you live in it. Your Narrowboat will probably go down in value. Rust never sleeps. When I lived on a boat it was always cheaper to buy a boat at the end of a season rather than at the beginning of it. Some boatyards have boats which have been "seized" because there owners have not paid mooring fees. These boats often change hands for peanuts. ( I once paid 37p for a boat!! I was offered other boats for free as long as I just paid the mooring fees )
