I'd agree with the two year separation - that's the route I went last time. We managed to divide up the marital property between us without rancour and just got a solicitor to draw up a legal document to that effect. It cost very little and kept the stress to the minimum.

Are you coping with the emotional aspects right now? As well as the practical problems this can be a rough time and I hope you have friends that you can talk to who'll be there for you. I've seen three friends through split ups in the past three years and know that it can be invaluable just to listen when someone needs to talk.
