Well, I didn't have any heartwarming surprises like new kittens or finding long-lost loved ones -- mine were more in the line of "it could have been worse....."

The toilet that was leaking all over the floor, and the stopped-up kitchen sink both happened several days BEFORE Christmas, so there was time to get the plumber in to fix them before the relatives arrived. Yay!

AND, my sister-in-law did NOT get drunk and crabby on Christmas Day! This was definitely a change for the better!

On a more positive note, both of my sons and my daughter-in-law were with me for Christmas, and while not really a surprise, it's one of the best things I can think of!
