GUEST,John Dipper BS: Fiddle course in France (9) BS: Fiddle course in France 24 Jan 05

Hello - I'd really appreciate it if the word could be spread about the following - please tell your fiddling friends!!!

Fiddle Course by John Dipper - at La Jeusseliniere - July 3rd ~ 9th 2005

Come and spend a week in Northern France on a course with the tutor of your choice. 'La Jeusseliniere' is the home of Martyn and Danni Wyndham-Read. Enjoy a relaxed, informative, thoroughly enjoyable week with great music, food, wine and excellent company.

Who should go?

This course is aimed at musicians who have made a start on playing the fiddle, but feel they need an elusive something in order to take the next step forward in their playing, and improving their confidence.

What does the course cover?

As well as looking at technique to help you get the best from your instrument, John will be looking at the need to gain an understanding of how to approach the instrument and the music, to make it your instrument and your music.

This sense of ownership, of both music and instrument is essential, especially in folk music, where a sense of purpose and solid foundation is needed for the musician and the music to speak and tell their stories clearly.

Why should you come?

If you feel stuck in a rut and not sure how to progress and develop your playing this course offers you a unique chance to explore and try new approaches to music with the safety net of an experienced tutor on hand to help and guide you to success.

What will you have achieved?

By the end of the week you will have the ability to take your music onto the next level, having developed your own style and artistic approach, as well as developing your technique and increasing your confidence in playing the fiddle and approaching music making.

Level of competence?

This is totally dependant on so many factors that I would welcome anyone interested to contact me, so that I can talk to you. It may well be you have only played for 6 months, but are entirely suited to attend, or you may have been playing for several years, yet still massively benefit from the course. . . I welcome ALL enquiries.

Situated in the beautiful Mayenne countryside on the borders of Brittany, Normandy and the Western Loire

'La Jeusseliniere' offers musicians, friends and partners, a chance to spend a relaxed, informal, yet constructive week in the company of the tutor of their choice. As the more adventurous among you will find out, it is a truly magical experience, at a place where you can learn at your own pace with a small group of like-minded people in a tranquil and inspiring location. This is a rare opportunity to enjoy the peaceful French countryside with excellent wine, food, music and of course good company.
