Martin Mull used to perform a song based on This Land is Your Land. He couldn't record it because of objections from the Guthrie estate. The verses were spoken, and the chorus sung to the tune of This Land. Here's what I remember of it. Chorus: This land ain't your land This land is my land From the New York Yankees To Lebanon Long Island From the Gulf Stream golf course To the U.S. Air Force This land was made for guys like me. Verse 1: I'm about as groovy as a John Wayne movie ... Verse 2: Now the hippies they are quiet But you know they're going to riot Got to be subversive cause they look so strange Walking down the street With their hair to their feet Hand out to greet you "You got any spare change?" Well, I never give them any Not a penny I just punch them in the mouth and I say "If this country sucks, well, so do I "And I'll fight to keep it that way." Sorry that I don't remember more, but I only heard it once, thirty years ago. Jacob
