Mían Lyr Req: Eamonn Mhagaine (11) RE: Lyr Req: Eamonn Mhagaine 29 Nov 99

Idir Corcaighe is Dubhghlais

A version of Eamonn Mhagaine from the Ceol Tigh CD.

The lyrics are not included with the CD and so I have

attempted to put down what I think I am hearing from the

song. I would love feedback on this: corrections, etc.

Idir Corcaighe is Dubhghlais

seall chonaicse mo rúnach

go hatuirseach croithte

im'choinne sa ród

do labhair sí go tláith liom

i gcómhrá mín mánla

is do chuir sí romham fáilte

agus céad míle póg

"Seo litir ó m'athair

's na beannachtaí óm' mháithrín

go dtabhairt anseo id' láthair

a óganaigh óig

's go bhfaighirse na táinte

le spréidh stoc insan áireamh

's mé féin mar bharr air sin

ó choíche 's go deo."

Ó abair seo le d'athair

's ná dearmad do mháithrín

ná bhfaighir mé le pósadh

a chailín deas óig

mar go bhfuilimse geallta

le bliain is trí ráithe

le iníon Sheáin Dháibhis

ó Chontae Mhuigh Eo.

"Mo chreach 's mo sceimhleadh …"

it is at this point I have extraordinary trouble pinpointing

the words I hear from the CD. I shall put down phonetics,

guesses or bad spellings so that there is a rough approxi-

mation of what I hear on the CD.

"nach marbh-leac do bhaoise/bhúise/mhaiomhse/mhúise

óna/onann chósa tslí/tuilí ar an poo/ ar umpu / arann thú

a óganaigh óig

sa/sár amach seo le hinsint

go Mac Bean Ellisílat

agus mise seo thirthe/tírthe

sna fyne/fathain dul ag/a tró/treo."
