I am happy about these developments on a number of levels.

Secondly, this is a cross-party initiative, which all parties in the north of Ireland have given their approval to.
Does that mean co-operation, or what?

Firstly, recognition has been given to the significance of what the Hunger Strikers died for, and as such it indelibly marks their righteous place in the annals of modern Irish history. Just like Kilmainham, the GPO, The Four Courts, and Mountjoy, the H-Blocks, (or more particularly) the Prison Hospital in Long Kesh, will be accorded that special status in Ireland, which is reserved for commemerating the legitimate struggle to get the British out of our affairs.

Thirdly, I take Ard Mhacha's point that the logistics of putting the football stadium together may prove a headache for the designers.
If you play a game of soccer on a GAA pitch, (another 1st), there would be an awful lot of 'field' surrounding the touchlines. GAA pitches dwarf soccer pitches, and if they are going to build a 90 000 seater, as I heard on David Dunseith's 'Talkback' programme on Radio Ulster, some days ago, then the poor soccer fan will be so far away from the action, that both their sets of supporters may well have to stand on the sidelines (just like the old days), and leave the stands to the folks that watch the by far more popular (and more action-packed) games of Football and Hurling.

Whatever about the goal of a United Ireland, the Nationalists of the north of Ireland never have risen above the first goal of attaining equality. There is still a very long way to go, mind you. Little has changed, 'Equal Opportunity' legislation, notwithstanding. The only section of northern society who does not want equality are the radical Unionist parties, and this new development, is entirely that... a new development.

If the DUP, and others of their ilk, realise and accept that the Prison Hospital at Long Kesh has such a special place in Irish history that they are willing to list it, make a museum out of it, and use taxpayers money to maintain it, well then, who the fuck are you, Brucie, to gainsay it.

Did Canada have an Armed Struggle once?
Who was it against?
Do you (as a Country) commerate your Independence every year?
Can your weeny reach your ass?

Go shag yourself!
