Gypsy, there's a Vega serial number list of sorts available at Mugwumps , although it was compiled for banjos. If that B is really an 8, it might have been made between 1915 and 1920. AFAIK the cylinderbacks were first made around 1914 and continued until 1926 or so. Great mandolins. The one I had and traded for my Gibson A was loud, but not very complex in sound. There is some mandolin history available at the Mandolin Cafe, I think. Sandy
