Today marks the 45th anniversary of one of the greatest events of my life !! On March 24, 1960 , I and my betrothed, who bought me the tickets for a birthday present, sat in row 11, seats 7 and 8 in the Santa Monica Civic Auditorium and reveled in the greatest folk music concert ever presented. I have seen Bud and Travis perform three times since then, the last being in 1966 at a small folk club in Buena Park, California , just after they had gotten back together after a rift - they were as good then as they were that very first time and debuted a new song that night - "Anna". They broke up for good shortly after that and each went his separate way. I later met and talked to Bud when he was teaching flamenco guitar techniques at McCabes in Santa Monica (one of the shrines of folk mucic history in the 60's). These two will never be surpassed for pure talent, showmanship and downright stage magnetism. Long live Travis and rest well, Bud from a devoted fan !!
