Thanks everyone,

I had to go up to the Potteries yesterday anyway, so I rang Chris Algar.

He was extremely helpful, and gave advice (that I could followed up by buying a concertina elsewhere ) ... but bought a starter concertina from him !!!    :)

Sort-of got a tune out of it this morning ( if you allow as many wrong notes as right )

I am too wary to buy an instument from someone I don't know off ebay, though Chris says he has sold some instuments there.
