Every Thursday night at the Ship Inn, Haskayne (where? halfway between Southport and Liverpool but not on the main A565 - on the A something or other else running sort of parallel). Right on the Leeds and Liverpool Canal, and not far from where the first sod was cut. Fairly informal - you don't know you're running the night until everyone else tells you. Officially a Folk Club, but gets like a session at times. Everyone joins in if they know the tune (and key!), or words. Coming by road, take the Maghull to Southport road and turn inland at the Kings Arms. Starts about 8.30 ish. Two guest beers - often Landlord is on, and quite often something from Jennings - and Tetley in cask as well if desperate. The draught cider is Blackthorn.
