On April 7, 1953 a star shone in the east and three moderately wise men roamed the highways and biways of Berkeley, California bearing a fiddle, a job offer from the National Park Service, and recipes for 100 ways to cook chicken (the future mainstay of chanteyranger's diet). Meanwhile, his sister Miriam hid the wee babe in ecologically sustainable bullrushes, thus protecting the future chanteyranger from harm so that he would one day rise to fulfil his glorious destiny, filling the air with mariner's songs and Scottish fiddle music. HAPPY BIRTHDAY CHANTEYRANGER! You are a treasure and a pleasure, and this crazy planet is all the better for your presence. May you be here, making music, for many decades to come. With love, sixtieschick and embarrassing older sister, Miriam
