I did find (or more acurately was pointed to) a website containing a thorough dissertation on the origin of the tune "Londonderry Air" which debunked some of the myths from Ireland about how it was found. Unfortunately I can't remember who wrote it, where it was or what conclusion the author came to as to the tunes origin (although IIRC it was an Irish origin). T
