mark sorry,i don't know my source, i learned that when i was about 14, which was several days ago. still, it's a right sad song. my daughter still cries when i sing it, and she's over 14 herself. but i think i did shoot old shep, cause the next verse i know is: now sheppie has gone where the good doggies go, and no more with old shep will i roam, but if dogs have a heaven, theres on thing i know, old shep has a wonderful home. your version? doug
