I have just arrived in Huddersfield from New Zealand and I'm missing my women's singing group so I'm thinking of starting up something similar here. In NZ we meet once a month for a sing around. Anything goes, the only rule is "no unconstructive criticism". Ability varies from complete beginners to experienced musicians and some people bring instruments, some sing unaccompanied and some sing in groups. We always have a great night and share songs, coffee, vino, chat and our talent. The group has proved a springboard for lots of us to feel more confident singing in the folk clubs. Is there anyone out there in the Huddersfield area who would be interested? Our house could be a venue.
