David Gilmour of Pink Floyd uses 90% of the time the pentatonic scale, which means its easy once you know it to work out solos... even though you will NEVER be able to play them like Dave does. also Gilmour is a huge fan of old blues musicians and the band name pink floyd is from two old bluesmen pink anderson and floyd council.

ive seen page in interviews saying how much he likes bert jansch and martin carthy along with other world acoustic music. some of his best acoustic stuff can be found on the recent led zeppelin double dvd, excellent versions of going to california, thank you, etc. and also on the UnLedded DVD - very interesting - with page and plant sat in the streets of morocco just jamming with the street musicians - fantastic stuff.

not long to go now until the reunion of the floyd.
