For me the most damming evidence against Schappelle came from the Indonesian customs officer who gave evidence stating that Schappelle said, "There is some." Given that English is a second language for this Indonesian he would not be able to detect the subtle differences in intonation that we use to give meaning to what we are saying. It could be that what she actually said was, "There is some...." and failed to finish the sentence. She failed to finish the sentence because she was so surprised and apprehensive. If this is the case, what she meant was, "Oh my God! There is something there!" The officer said that she then attempted to prevent him from opening it. This action, I believe, was an automatic defensive reflex that anyone would have under such circumstances. I think the defense team should call a high profile Indonesian language professor who is an expert in the English language together with a similar expert from Australia.
