Tomorrow (July 14) is the 93rd anniversary of the birth of Woody Guthrie (1912-1967). I'll be marking the occasion on Folk Roots/Folk Branches with a Woody Guthrie Radio Special. The show will include some of Woody Guthrie's own recordings, some of his classic songs sung by a variety of artists, some of the songs from the Woody Guthrie Archives that have been set to music in recent years and a number of songs that have been written about Woody Guthrie by succesive generations of songwriters. Folk Roots/Folk Branches is heard on Thursday mornings from 9:00-11:30 (Eastern) on CKUT, 90.3 FM, in Montreal. The live webstream and the CKUT audio archives are available from the Folk Roots/Folk Branches website. The show will be available from the archives for two months beginning immediately after the live broadcast. Mike Regenstreif
