Linda, I go to Quebec on an annual trip, every year since 1997. I have very little French but find that the people will converse in English as long as you do them the courtesy of speaking what little freanch you may have. I just returned from Quebec on 12th July, and have planned another trip next July as well (2nd or 4th weekend). We stay in Cape-de-la-madeleine (Trois-Rivieres), but make side trips to Ste. Anne De Beaupre, Bromtonville, Magog, Quebec City and Charlesbourg. It is a beautiful province and I regret not having more French as it is a lovely language. Inside the walls of old Quebec the streets around Petite Champlain are very interesting, it has a real old European flavour. I may visit this winter if I can manage it, as it is even more beautiful when covered in snow.
