Just a note: when you are online, you can minimize that litte box in the upper right hand corner of your screen to your task bar tray, and ICQ remains operational while you have access to your full screen. You can receive messages, chat requests, etc. S'matter of fact, we just keep it there all the time, saving the step of opening it every time we want to use. It just becomes activated every time we get on-line.
You can add users by by ICQ # as Alison suggested and also by e-mail address. Some people require authorization before you can be added to their list. The ICQ system will just send them an authorization request and they can agree to add you to their list. This is no big deal, although it is an additional step that might have to happen before being able to access a friend on ICQ.
happy chatting!
