Let me take that back. I see now that "died for freedom's sake" is in the second DT text of "Bantry Girl," but not in O L.'s. It was the source of the DT text that made the alteration, not O L. O L took his melody from The Complete Petrie Collection, vol. 3, p. (or perh. No.) 693. He says that "The Dawning of the Day," which is the very next tune (694), is a "variant."
