JM> Barry Taylor has MIDI'd my song and called JM> it Mist Covered Mountains. Caution on your assumptions, Jim. In fact I've never heard your song! I am a piper. When I sequenced the midi all I did was create it based on the pipe notation that's been around for well over a hundred years and that I personally have played for almost forty years. The double notes at the ends of lines have nothing whatsoever to do with lyrics. They replicate the taorluath or birl embellishments played by pipers at the ends of those lines. (Pipe notation never seems to feature tied sustained notes... but I've never figured out why!) The parts in the midi also correspond to the way pipers play most two parted tunes... each part repeated as in AABB. Until I heard The Rankin Family sing it (Chì Mi Na Mórbheanna ), I never knew there *were* lyrics!
