Below is my ear's interpretation of Sid Selvidge's wonderful rendition of Eddie Hinton's Every Natural Thing. Any fine tuning of the lyrics would be greatly appreciated...
-----------------------------------
Nineteen birds in the sycamore tree
Each one with its own melody
Singin' off-kilter without a beat
Tell me, what in the world makes it sound so sweet?

Well, the bee caught the bear with his head in the honey,
Stung him all over till it wasn't so funny.
It's the law of the jungle, man. You got to survive.
Tonight everything wants to be alive.

Whether it's the motion in the ocean or the wind in the leaves,
There's two kinds o' somethin' tryin' to make it three
Of a natural thing have got that groove.
I don't know how come; they just do-oooo.

It takes two to make it twinkle, keep your love lights a-burnin'.
Ain't nothin' to it - what you get at the turnin'.
Let the feelin' overrun you, then you snatch it back.
That ol' push 'n' pull is a nat'ral fact.

Whether it's the motion in the ocean or the wind in the leaves,
There's two kinds o' somethin' tryin' to make it three
Of a nat'ral thing have got that groove.
I don't know how come; they just do-ooo.

But like the stars in the sky, the showers of ra-ain,
Everything is diff'rent but it's all the same.
Don't know what else to tell ya, honey,
But go out 'n' bet your money on a natural thing.

(8 bar instrumental break)

Whether it's the motion in the ocean or the wind in the leaves,
Well, it's two kinds o' somethin' tryin' to make it three
Of a nat'ral thing have got that groove.
I don't know how come; they just do-ooo.

But like the stars in the sky, the showers of ra-ain,
Everything is diff'rent but it's all the same.
Don't know what else to tell you, honey,
But go out 'n' bet your money on a natural thing.
