BTMP Anyone using cakewalk? (7) RE: Anyone using cakewalk? 26 Oct 05

I use Cakewalk Guitar Tracks Pro 2 but did not respond to your other thread because it sounded like you were looking for a more simplistic solution. First of all, I use Cakewalk primarily for home recording of my own solo projects, and projects for the bluegrass band I play in. My setup uses a small Behringer mixing board into which I can plug mics, CD players, tape players, turntables, etc. and the board output feeds into the line in (or mic) jack of my computer. Once I adjust for the level of the input device via the board, I record the input into Cakewalk. For tapes and records, I also use the RayGun 2.0 noise reduction software which does a fair job of reducing (not eliminating) the hiss and pops. I also have the BBE sound enhancing software which can be used with Cakewalk. The BBE is great for live recordings. The Cakewalk then can mix the audio to a .WAV file which can be borned to a CD using your Roxio or whatever.

There are many products out on the market today that can provide this form of audio copying. My setup is cheap (I have more money in my mics than board & software) and very versatile. There are probably simpler ways to just get a tape or record to CD, however.

Regards, BTMP
