Visual stories is what most good songs are about. Eric Bogle's "The Band Played Waltzing Matilda" paints an ugly picture of the effects of war.But... a song with conscience. Here is a reversal of song painting an image. I cannot hear "Red River Valley" with out seeing images of Hank Fonda giving his dramatic speech in "Grapes of Wrath" The instrumental rendention in the backgroud is haunting and perfect for the scene.
