Ummm... BigPinkLad, the Rod Stewart song is a different song with the same title, and (as Little Hawk said), clearly inspired by the original. I didn't care for it, but that's not the basis for what I'm saying; when Little Hawk and I say it's a different song, we mean it's a different song -- different lyrics, different tune. Give a listen to both and you'll hear that yourself.

One of my favorite renditions was Howard Cosell's. When Muhammed Ali won the heavyweight title for the third and final time (beating Leon Spinks, who had taken the title from him), Howard went on the air and recited the lyrics to Forever Young. Sounds pretty hokey, and I guess it was, but it meant something at the time.
