Until this week I was of the opinion also..."there is no cure for the flu." However, I have been researching this wonderful new pharmaceutical.
In brief
Tamiflu - was developed by Gilead (name comes from "Balm of Gilead") and patent rights with royalties were sold to Roche. It was FDA approved on October 27, 1999 in time for the 2000 flu season. Use in Canada and Europe is pending. It works by "neautralizing" the enzyme in the type A and B influenza virus that is essential for attaching itself to another cell, therefore the virus cannot multiply.....and the flu does not excellerate in symptoms. My experience is indicating that there is some live virus in my body, last night a "dry throat" but nothing like the flaming red-hot poker that is common. Profound lethargy and sleep, but a crystal clear mind and VERY minimal systoms as the virus runs it course. The earlier treatment begins, the less live virus in the system.
