Words of comfort for flyers; Only the last 1/2" can be fatal on landing. Remember that all the equipment around you has gone to the lowest bidder. As long as the number of take off's = the number of landings..no problem. I like Robin Cook's books as airport terminal books, but they should be banned in hospital waiting rooms ;-)
