I happened upon this website out of curiosity about one of my favorite songs from childhood and was surprised to see so much interest in "The Churkendoose". It made me go looking and, sure enough, I still have our recording. It is on the Decca label (unbreakable record, thank goodness)and takes up both sides of a 78. In the same stack of records I found two other definite keepers, "What Makes Rain?" described as a musical story for children who ask questions and "The Little Tune That Ran Away" presented by Peter Lind Hayes. Since my brother and I played them thousands of times they are well worn but after the holidays I think I'll take them to a recording store and try to have them put on CD. They need to be preserved for our grandchildren!
