Well, state motor vehicle laws do NOT necessarily carry across borders, Bert. Here's an example: my daughter just got a North Carolina learner's permit that allows her to drive during certain hours, and when a 'responsible licensed driver' is in the front seat with her. Now, she went to visit relatives in VA and NJ. Could she drive there on that permit? As a life lesson, I let her make the phone calls to the out-of-state DMV. Bet you could have heard the laughter from New Jersey without the phone.... But, better than if she had tried to drive in Jersey and hope they honored NC law. Dani
